Another Blaze Breaks Out in Lower Manhattan

Firefighters battled the second major blaze in less than a month in an abandoned building in Lower Manhattan yesterday. The three-alarm fire broke out at around 3:30 p.m. in a building undergoing demolition at 80 Washington Street, just a few blocks from the former Deutsche Bank building. The fire yesterday broke out in a shaft behind the building inside a pile of debris that took longer than usual to put out, fire department officials said. 80 Washington Street is not contaminated with asbestos. There were no injuries.
