in response to reader comment: This does not represent Islam.

Mr. Jawad,
As a student of U.S. history I am well aware of our country's shortcomings so don't even begin to lecture me on our history. But for the record, the KKK was never a government agency with codified laws, unlike the religious police that exist in Saudi Arabia. The native Americans were treated horribly by our government, no excuses there, but what really killed off most native Americans was disease, not warfare. Anyway, lets look at Islam. Wow I'm truly amazed at how this religion was supposedly spread through peaceful means. Yeah, right. With a either "join us" or become second class citizens after we conquer you approach, no matter so many people "converted". And lets look at ALL the good Saudi Arabia has given to the world. You don't even help out your fellow Muslims when tsunamis wipe them out. When I was in England this summer it was sad to see the women in their black robes. Their piety was so evident as they filled their bags with expensive handbags and jewelry at Harrods and then got into a Mercedes (driven by a man, of course). My favorite lady was the one with a metal face plate. (what is that all about?) If your religion was truly interested in piety you might take a look at the Amish people in the American Midwest. They live a pious life(simple furnishings, no electricity) and dress modestly (no makeup, no designer handbags, no Mercedes). I lived my childhood near the Amish, can't recall them ever blowing up anyone.
