Bloomberg on gun control
Reader comment on: Bloomberg Seeks To Question Candidates About Guns

Submitted by Tom, Jan 23, 2008 09:24

Gun control has NEVER been proven to disarm criminals or prevent them from obtaining a firearm. Mexico is a good example of the failure of that country's strict gun control laws to disarm criminals and control crime. The well-armed drug lords and other criminals run rampant while the people are prohibited by the government from legally owning a firearm to protect themselves. Washington D.C., if gun control really worked, would be a crime-free paradise! Notwithstanding that city's gun ban (recently challenged in federal court) boasts a hefty annual murder rate, one of highest in the country. Australia, after the draconian gun ban in the 1990's, has experienced a climb in violent crimes.

The pro gun control politicians are all elitist hypocrites! Surrounded by their secret service or private bodyguards, they strive to disarm the rest of us. Hillary Clinton is a gun control and gun ban advocate, yet surely has the benefit of armed protection. If she becomes president, she'll have the Secret Service to protect her. Rosie O'Donnel, a rabid gun hater, hired a body guard to protect her. Are these peoples' lives any more valuable than our own? How dare they condemn ordinary citizens for wanting to keep a gun for protection while enjoying all the advantages of armed security!

Gun control is really "victim disarmament" and has everything to do with control of the People by ambitious and power hungry politicians who are afraid of an armed citizenry. They're no different than Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro or Adolf HItler!
