While at first glance it might seem logical that a felon should be prevented from owning a firearm. However, even a felon has the God given right to self protection and the protection of his family and property. It is my opinion that a simple law could be written which would add aggravating circumstances to the sentence of a felon who used (or carried) a firearm in the commission of a crime. Any man intent on getting and carrying a firearm will find a means to that end, regardless if he is a felon or not. Strict interpretation of the second amendment does not exclude felons.
