The New Focal Point of Israel's Schisms

Submitted by Dave Levy, Dec 15, 2007 13:36

Just another pundit commenting from his ivory tower, without any concrete suggestions.

Why should any so-called settler voluntarily remove himself and his family from the home for perhaps 30 years or more, for a peace that isn't worth the paper it's typed upon?

The Arab goal (including the Israeli-Arabs living in Israel proper), is the destruction of Israel, peace by piece. That said, no Jew should be forced to vacate unless and until an overall peace with the Arab-Muslim world is achieved, and that includes Iran, which has it's own agenda.

Israel has yet to learn anything it seems from Arab lies and actions, whenever it withdrew from territory taken as a result of the many wars forced on it, wars that thank; G-d, it won. Losing, would have meant the end of the Jewish experiement in the small portion of the former British Mandate.

If anything, the events subsequent to Israel's "disengagement" from the Gaza Strip, should have served as a warning of events if there are further withdrawals, without an enforceable treaty.

No treaty between Israel and the West Bank Palestinians will ever stop the increasingly powerful Hamas government from acting out their admitted goal of destroying the Jewish state, and replacing it with a Muslim extension of the worldwide Islamic movement.

This conflict is not now about Israel's fight with Egypt and Jordan, which have cold relationships. It's about Syria, Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Al Qaeda..and elements of Fatah, the supposed moderate Arab organization?

Withdrawing from those settlemetns, whether peacefully or by force, will just be another notch in the ultimate Arab goal, which goes much further than a small Palestinian state west of the Jordan River.

There is absolutely no necessity for there to be a test of Israeli soldiers loyalties...to the settler movement or to the (current) government. Any discontent should be discussed within Israel's government, and not shown on the world's media stage, similar to what we witnessed previously in the Strip., at the amusement of Israel's enemies. Until Israel understands the real nature of this conflict, and stops being in states of denial, the conflict will get progessively worse.
