Reader comment on: A Magical, Musical Story

Having danced to the Tch. score for close to a decade, I'm still brought to tears by some sections: the Coda, the Polichenelles (Peppermint), and Mother Ginger. It was a brilliant artistic decision by Ballanchine to include a violin solo from Sleeping Beauty, the audience always applauds. And I always have my ear pressed to the orchestra pit door.

Few companies perform the Scottish "Gigue" divertisement, it is very (45 seconds!) short and quite a demanding piece of music. Truly a pity more Ballet Companies don't use it.
