Emotional bombast trying to offset another's?
Reader comment on: Shock Jock

One man's polemic doesn't offset another's esp. when that other is a talented wordsmith, and also an energetic and attractive female one at that, which this reviewer isn't. The hackneyed and judicially chosen counterarguments don't impress especially when he assumes that the 'anti-Capitalists' are in league with Mao et al. Claiming that China has 'reformed' from the bottom-up is one of the most ludicrous arguments I have heard in awhile. (Remember the "Gang of Four" was ousted by the communist elites following Deng et al in the wake of Mao's death....not from some massive revolution from below) Well maybe since visiting his site at "Marginal Revolution" (.com) it's been a short while since I've heard the more ludicrous. I think Cowen has some good points though somewhere. Klein's is an emotional argument against a dangerous threat of tyranny by an oligarchic aristocracy of wealth being formed as we speak.....one that profits from war and disaster.. ...such as the numerous 'contractors' enriching themselves at the public trough via the "War on Terrorism" . Klein's targets enriching themselves at the public's expense as they are all connected to ideological leaders such as the current regime in the executive branch.
