The "so-called" screening by the political press to weed out stories that involve blacks, gays, and women as perpetrators in many cases is very much substantiated. As this was not the case in the 70's, 80's, and 90's not to mention decades before then, where black men were ALWAYS splashed about the news as perpetrators of some crimes whether they were guilty or not. Having knowledge of this FACT the political press, and mass media avoid reporting cases with blacks, gays and women in an attempt to avoid repeating a racist media. The media now very much reports cases with ranges of races, and sexual orients etc. I can turn on my television, and see plenty of reports of Black (men in particular) as perpetrators of crimes; like with the Columbia student case, the early spin on the Jenna Six, etc. etc.
