Governor To Bet Billions on SUNY

Submitted by MCD, Oct 31, 2007 11:17

It is unclear from the article not only what the program is, but how it is intended to help. If the problem is that students are already coming to college underprepared, how will it help to offer college-level coursework in high school? If a student is not prepared to handle college at 18 after four full years of high school, how will he or she be prepared to handle college-level work at 16 with two fewer years to prepare? And why are an early college program and a remediation program being discussed as if they are the same thing? These are not just two different concepts-- they are complete opposites.
