OPINION: FINDING THE CREAM OF THE CROP

It is with great interest that I have read recently about President Lee Bollinger of Columbia University's welcome for Ted Kaczynski, The Unabomber, to give a speech there. My dear wife was looking over my shoulder as I wrote to you, and chided me. She said it was Charles Manson he really had invited. I am in my seventies and sometimes I make small mistakes when recollecting things. Then I went back to the article and finally got it straight. I was close. The paranoid schizophrenic Columbia University invited was a fellow named John Coatsworth. Not only, did they invite Coatsworth to speak but saw fit to make him a Dean. You see, when scraping the bottom of the barrel to bring entertainment to the University it becomes quite a chore to find the very best perverted and salacious mentalities with committed opinions to draw a crowd. Indeed, it is a challenge for all Universities today to attract students that match the elite level of the faculty who plan the profile of tomorrow's leaders. "When you run out of perspective students that hate there parents, where else can you find and recruit the cream of the crop?" the dean of Columbia Law School, David Schizer was heard to say.
