The article doesn't mention intelligence in relation to learning disabilities, but what is the factor in rating intelligence if it is not the speed at which one can solve a problem? If speed is not a factor, why is everything, from the SAT to math quizzes, timed? Students who unnecessarily receive extra time are to a certain extent doing better than students who don't receive extra time. I know brilliant students who cannot get into Ivy League schools, and it does seem unusual to me that students with learning disabilities are being accepted over slews of valedictorians.
