It takes a great deal of intestinal fortitude not to howl with the wolves and to defend a man's good qualities
when a jury of his peers has found him guilty of felonious behavior. In our days "white collar crime" has taken
on such huge dimensions, it seems to have become socially acceptable in moneyed circles. As the
Martha Stewart case has shown, the public has a short memory in such matters. Conrad Black will suffer no
more serious punishment than the Boeskys and Millikens in their days but he will absorb the lesson well.
After a period of exemplary behavior he will be received again in Society. Recognizing his friend's shortcomings Seth Lipsky stood up for him nonetheless. Let he be a model for others in this respect.
