Let's face it, people. The Duke lacrosse story and its subsequent magnitude can be justified by the old "man-bites-dog" standard. How so? Because it is virtually unknown for a white male to rape a black female. Trust me, I was as shocked to learn this as anyone, but it appears to be the case. Viz:

According to the 2005 National Crime Victimization Survey (see Table 42), there were 111,490 rapes and sexual assaults of whites (the vast majority being women), of which 33.6% were committed by black perpetrators or around 37,500 in total. On the other side of the equation, there were 36,620 rapes and sexual assaults of blacks (again, overwhelmingly women), of which 0.0% were committed by white perps.
