WGA Cancels Awards Show
The Writers Guild of America called off its February 9 awards show in Los Angeles yesterday, mere hours after announcing its nominations for achievements in film writing for 2007.
In a brief announcement, the guild said it would announce its awards as planned but added, "There will be no Writers Guild of America West show until the strike is over."
"Juno," "Michael Clayton," "The Savages," "Knocked Up," and "Lars and the Real Girl" all received nominations for original screenplay, while "No Country for Old Men," "There Will Be Blood," "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," "Into the Wild," and "Zodiac" were honored with adapted screenplay nods.
Documentary nominations went to "The Camden 28," "Nanking," "No End in Sight," "The Rape of Europa," "Sicko" and "Taxi to the Dark Side."
