By Staff Reporter of the Sun | April 28, 2008

Richard Chen See will be the director of the New York International Ballet Competition, the organization's board of directors announced yesterday.

Mr. Chen See, who is in his 14th year as a dancer with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, will work with NYIBC's executive director, Ilona Copen, and artistic director, Eleanor D'Antuono, to prepare for the June 2009 competition.

A native of Jamaica, Mr. Chen See has danced with Northern Ballet Theatre, Oakland Ballet, and ODC/San Francisco.

NYIBC, a competition for dancers between the ages of 17 and 24, is held every two years at Lincoln Center. Among those who have won the competition is a current principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, Gillian Murphy.
