Upstate Airports To Receive $5 Million in Federal Funding

WASHINGTON — Airports across upstate New York will see more than $5 million in new federal funding, senators Clinton and Schumer announced yesterday.
The money, which comes through a series of Department of Transportation grants, will go to repairs, safety upgrades, and the construction of new hangars and beacons.
The bulk of the funding, $2.746 million, is slated for Albany International Airport and Schenectady County Airport. Nearly $1.6 million was allocated for four airports in the North Country, and $800,000 will go to airports in the Hudson Valley.
"By investing our federal dollars into these airports, we guarantee that they are equipped to best serve our residents, as well as bring economic strength and vital commerce to the region," Mr. Schumer said in a statement.
